The link below will show you actual SOLD, Active and Pending comps for your home pulled directly from the NWMLS. It's the actuallt SOLD price recorded with the county and not a guess or Zestimate!

Find out what your home is worth now and get an estimate of what prices have appreciated in the past ten years and work backward. Itsn't an exact science, but it will put you in the ballbark.

I would contact your local Realtor to pull comps from the tax records to search 1998. Most MLS's will not go back that far. Hope this helps.

Kristi, Ed suggested, ...I picked a random address in the Crossroads area and searched all around it for homes that had a last recording date in 1998...
here's just a handful of what came up ...check the web reference I have linked.

Just thought of another way you can get comps for 1998 in your neighborhood. Have your Realtor run the tax rolls for homes that sold in 1998. Should be able to pull up a few that haven't re-sold again since then.

James....your curiosity is understandable. I entered a verbal lease agreement with a family member in 1998. The time has come to take it to the mat and we never formally agreed on the sale price. I ball parked 230k and it looks as though I am close

That's going to be extremely tough to determine. The MLS system for Bellevue is the NWMLS and I don't think it has complete info of sales data that far back. For instance, I just searched all single-family home sales between jan 1, 1998 and Dec 31, 1998 in bellevue and it only returned 5 houses. The only other way I can think of to get even close are these reports the NWMLS has.

For the area roughly bordered by: 405 to the west, I-90 to the south, 520 to the north and Lake Sammamish to the east (isn't exact, but close enough for now), the median sale price of single-family homes in January 1998 was just under $249K ...a whopping 46 units closed (that were listed with the NWMLS). In Feb '98, the median sales price was $220k, for march, $250k, april was $255k, may was $250k, etc. etc. hits a high of $268k in August, and closes the year out at around $242k. This is just the entire area as a whole and really doesn't say much about your specific house.

I'm curious why you're trying to figure out what your house was worth nearly 10 years ago.

Contact a Realtor in your area to run comparable sales for you. Most MLS's archive sold data for 8 - 10 years or more.

I would suggest contacting a Realtor or an Appraiser. Depending on if you are looking for market value versus tax value etc. will play a large part in determining the information you are seeking. I could suggest a Realtor in your area that works in your area if you need a contact person. When trying to find an estimated value of your home for years past I think you will have to rely on a professional rather than trying to do it yourself as you will not be able to access the past information as readily as an appraiser or a Realtor.
