Carole: I believe media reporting has had a fairly negative impact on the real estate market. Even if there is good news to report, they often feel compelled to lead the story with a negative angle. The media in general can be deceiving as they report national real estate conditions, not necessarily focusing on the specific markets of individual areas. They also focus on the negative aspects. In my area, San Mateo County, CA we have micro markets; homes in some cities are selling with multiple offers, over the asking price, while others cities have listings that are taking quite some time to sell.
