I understand that RealtyTrac said the property is scheduled for Auction on 12/12, but sometimes RealtyTrac does not reflect the most current status of the property.
Due to conflicting information, I emailed the listing agent just in case there is incorrect information. He just replied (at 11:35PM) that the house is still available and I can show it to interested parties.

I checked our foreclosure website, and the property sold to a private party at the trustee's sale. It did not go REO.

The property in San Rafael is listed on Realty Trac as a pre foreclosure property which was scheduled for sale on Dec 12. It may have been sold on that date, or the sale may have been delayed. If the sale was held, someone may have purchased it or the lender may have ended up with the property if no bidder's were willing to pay the lender's demand.
You may be able to obtain that information by subscribing to Realty Trac, or it can usually be obtained from a local Title company for no charge. However, you should be aware that a property sold at Trustee sale is sold without warranty (no title insurance) and in as is condition, and may be subject to IRS liens or back taxes. So, it's important to be very cautious if considering purchase of a property at a trustee sale.
If the lender took the property, they will likely list it for sale soon with a realtor. If you are working with a realtor now, you can have them get the trustee sale infomration from a local title company and then call to see what the status is, and whether the property will be for sale soon, or has already been sold. Maryann
