Not always. There are many veterans who have been in the business for a long time, but do little business and haven't kept up with today's technology. Ask people you know for references and interview a few of them. See who you feel comfortable with and who has ideas for marketing that you like. Whatever you do, don't go with an agent just because they gave you the highest list price for your house or the lowest commission rate. It's usually a sign of desperation or inexperience and I'm sure you won't be happy with the results. If you're looking for an agent here on Trulia, don't be swayed by a PRO or VIP designation. Look at agents who have active listings here on Trulia and see how they are presented. Do a google search for homes in your area with a number of different search criterias and see if the agent or their company appear. Try a variety like buckley homes, buckley real estate, buckley waterfront properties or whatever and see who shows up under a generic search (not the paid sponsor ads).
