Work, it's that simple. Siting behind a desk will get you nowhere. Go out and talk to people. Pick a neighborhood and go door to door introducing yourself. Go into businesses and introduce yourself. The more people you talk to the more you will stir up. Remember most potential deals will not pan out. You have to get lots of activity to get deals that close. ... more

Welcome from Portugal!

First things first...I would apply for jobs first. Then depending on where you get hired you can decide a location to live. When you are ready to buy a house you can check out my web-site at FIRST CHOICE REAL ESTATE www.SandiMerlini.com. I can advise you on how to get pre-approved for a mortgage with little or no money down!

Good Luck,

Paula Goldrup Waldroup answered:
The air traffic noise varies on what end of the runway they take off from and if it is a calm quiet day or not. That being said I live at the end of the north runway and the impact it has on my life is very minimal. They on average take off twice a day and depending on how many take off it might interrupt my phone conversation by a minute to two the most.

I hope this helps you.

Dear Amy,

Call Paula Waldroup at Park Square Realty....413-485-7386. She has a rental in Russell, great house, great lot, currently vacant...monthly rent 1600 but worth a shot at negotiating. Paula and I have both set up rentals here in Russell for folks working at Barnes. The commute isn't more than 20 minutes on a good traffic day. Paula's rental is only a few short minutes from the Police Barracks in Russell, about 7 or 8 miles (10 minutes) from the center of Westfield.

Wishing you the best!

Kind regards,

Cranberry answered:
Thank you, everyone!

Yes, I was satisfied with the prices of the homes that sold quickly. My realtor's suggested listing price is on the lower end of that range. She also suggested that we list it at that price for 2 weeks and then drop it $3,000. So we'll see what happens.

I'd still love to move into an apartment early, but am playing things by ear for now. I still have some painting and floor work to do before it goes on the market.

Interesting that people wouldn't want to look at a home if an animal lived there....but it makes sense. I know people with animals whose houses are...well...gross. I don't think mine is, but I've gotten into the habit of vacuuming every day and will have the carpets professionally cleaned before the house goes on the market. And I've asked friends to honestly tell me whether the house smells like cat - they all said no. My realtor said it didn't smell either. But I can see the concern.

I also talked to a friend who sold a condo a couple of years ago. He said that there were many times on the weekends that he, his wife, and daughter had to leave at a moment's notice so that their place could be shown. (They were at work and school all day during the week, so that was never a problem.)

Oh, decisions, decisions! :)

Hi Ragazinna:

Thanks for the update. Clearly, it will be tough to get your security deposit back with a landlord
as explained. Sadly, he can write a letter but cant call saying that the heat will be being turned off.

Also, you can check with Springfield County accessor's office to check if the ownership has passed
from the Owners name to a Bank, that would indicate that it has been auctioned off. Also check if the Taxes have been paid? If Taxes are not paid, then find out if it has been for 6 months or 12 months

The challenge comes up when a property is acquired at auction by a New Owner for their Principal Residence. Also prudent to call the Springfield Rent board to figure out your rights.

Here are some good links to start:

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks
