No. Your landlord (co-op shareholder) signed a contract agreement with the co-op Board and is required to pay the monthly maintenance fee on time. Failure to do so will result in an eviction or a lawsuit. The co-op Board's lawyer will take legal action to start eviction or foreclosure.

As an example (I'm on the Board of my co-op) - we had a resident who failed to pay the maintenance fee so it does happen. We started by taking away the owner's parking space. Then our lawyer sent notices to the shareholder to pay. Eventually the co-op apartment was sold and the Board got the money back.

In your situation, I would start talking to members of the Board and ask them what actions they intend to take. They may not have authority to tell you, BUT you can ask them for advice on what you need to do and when you need to start. If you get the hint that you need to look for someplace else to live - start now.
