I'm not an agent and have worked in the area for quite some time. West Brighton goes from good to not good at all. Your best bet is to go around the area during the evening and night time hours. Broadway off Bay Street is okay, Broadway off Richmond Terrace, is not so hot. When looking at any neighborhood always go for a drive at night and see for yourself. ... more

As Jessica mentioned Staten Island's crime statistics (as published by the NYPD compstat) can be accessed by visiting www.clovelake.com, as far as walking into a local police station and inquiring as another poster suggested, well that's not very practical. Perhaps elsewhere it would be, but here the Police men and women are often to busy working hard to smooze with each inquiry, nor are they permitted to offer off the cuff personal opinions as to crime statistics. ... more
