I would try HICentral.com
There are many rentals located there, and the best part is that only licensed agents can enter rentals. That cuts out scams by 99%. Be very careful on Craigslist and other ad sites, they're very sketchy.... more
Hi DJ- It depends on the building and how you would be renting. Hawaii is unique in Home Purchasing as there is leasehold land and fee simple. I have a management company as well. If your interested I can speak to you. Thank you.... more

Not sure if you found a good deal yet, or if you're working with an agent, but I'd be happy to talk with you about what you need and what you consider a "good deal". As David mentioned, that term is relative and really depends on your personal situation.
If you'd like to talk, you can call me at (808) 222-4054 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Whenever I need a short term rental for neighbor island visits, or when friends and family visit, I always check www.vrbo.com. The VRBO is an acronym for Vacation Rentals By Owner. They are usually in great places, have reasonable rates, and available for short term rentals. The site is pretty user friendly and allows you to sort searches by various criteria - rental amount, area, etc.
If you are checking the site and have general questions about a building or neighborhood, please feel free to call me at (808-222-4054) or email me at email@example.com and I'll be happy to give you information to help decide if its the right place for you. I don't do property management so you will have to talk with the owner about unit specific questions, but many of the rentals are in buildings that I have probably helped clients buy or sell.
I was just in contact with 'Claude Burton'. I found his rental vacancy on another search site and he moved the communication on well, but never answered anything directly. I asked detailed questions that were never answered and he never wanted to meet before I gave hime my deposit and first months rent. I showed up at Kings Gate Apartment where he 'owned' the property, but they never heard of him. In his advertisement he stated 'I am the Landlord'.
I can't say it's a scam or that this guy is a slimy, low life peice of haha lepo..... but he also has rentals in other states that seem to be a hoax as well.... more
