Raphael,

Hello Raphael. Yes there is excellent public trasportation in and around Vail. Also, there is excellent transportation 40 miles west and is very affordable. The buses are ecofriendly and make numerous stops along the way. There are also different bus choices depending on where you want to go.

Please let me know if I may assist you any other way. Are you looking to purchase a home in the Vail area? I am happy to send you information.

Thank you.

There is no typical commission structure. Every Broker has different commission structure. It can be negotiable to some extent. Do you have a home you are interested in selling? I would love the opportunity to speak to you.

Thank you.

Jimmy and Marka Brenner are with Blue Sky Mortgage. They are detail oriented, have a large portfolio of lenders, and know the business inside and out. I cannot recommend them highly enough; and they would be a fantastic resource for you. They are in the Avon Center Building.

As of today, there are 12 short sales and 12 bank owned properties available through our Vail Board of Realtors MLS. They range in price from $115,000 to $2,595,000. Please contact me if you would like any specific information. There are other homes not listed, bu they are hard to pursue. Often banks plan on offering these homes through brokers, when their REO department is ready to divest of the asset. I did just close with a buyer on a short sale that was not listed for sale and after a year of diligent work, he closed on what was a super value! Please contact me if you would like more detailed information! Warm Regards, Sara Divya ... more

Check all of the regular rental sites every day. Good housing moves fast.

Craigslist, Trulia, Zillow, Apartments.com, Hotpads, Vaildaily.com

As you move down the valley, Avon, Edwards, Eagle, Gypsum, you get more for your money but will need to commute farther. As long as you have a decent vehicle, the drive is a breeze. The Eco Bus also goes down to Gypsum. These bedroom communities are ideal with less expensive restaurant and entertainment options.

If you want to live right in Vail, consider a roommate situation or perhaps an affordable housing option like "middle creek." These solutions are not ideal, in that you may end up living with a party animal, BUT, you will get to know what it's like to "live the vail life" for a season!

You may need to live with roommates, but it is possible. Rooms are going for approximately $500-$700. You will pay about $900-$1000 for your own place.

Keep in mind that food and entertainment are more expensive in the Valley.

Most people don't mind this though, because of the amazing opportunities that living in the valley present! Hike out your back door, ski every day of the week, fishing, camping, snowmobiling....

Riverwalk in Edwards would be a great location for you. It is within walking distance to restaurants, a bookstore, grocery store, liquor store and coffee shops. The condos are newer. This would offer you the proximity to amenities that you are probably used to moving from San Fran.

Check all of the online sites, trulia, zillow, craigslist, apartments.com, hotpads. Also, keep an eye on the Vail Daily classifieds.

Savvy locals know to check these daily, as the right place will get picked up fast!

Don't forget the Vail Daily classifieds at Vaildaily.com. Not all rental property owners are tech savvy and know how to post to the professional sites.

Also, considering your budget... Know that the further you get away from Vail proper, the lower your rent costs will be. On the flip side, the longer your commute and the necessity for a decent vehicle. The bus system does operate from Gypsum to Vail and also from Leadville to Vail in a limited capacity. Eco Transit is the operator. http://www.eaglecounty.us/transit/schedules/

Their is "affordable housing" in the town of Vail at Middle Creek. middlecreekvillage.com.

Good luck in your search!
