Asked by Patricia Rodilosso, New Jersey Sun Dec 23, 2007

I would like an email alert to find out when anything comes on the market on a particular street. How can I do that?

We would be happy to send you homes similar to the listing you were looking at. Our search engine as a licensed Realtor is more advanced than what you will find on the web and it will make it easier for you to work with us in your home search. We have a Naples Real Estate Search website called for our customers to search the MLS and get daily updates. If you have an agent that works with buyers, we will not only provide standard MLS information, but many of us buy search and information tools for our buyers. You can search by area, development, subdivision or even by map. When you register with the website, you can save searches and individual homes. The search results are also sent to us to keep in touch with you and help to give you more information and set up showings. Call me today for more details- 239-331-2944.

That was funny Roxanne! She is looking in New Jersey. Did you mean that agents in New Jersey should be able to search for the whole state like you can or she should look in Florida?
I'm still giggling...very cute.

Hi Patricia,

Trulia doesn't send out email alerts for particular streets, although if you find a for sale listing on Trulia on the street in question you can sign to receive alerts when similar homes are listed.

Hi Patricia:

Are you interested in one street or the neighboring street, or like-kind property in the same neighborhood?

I agree with Ruth, Trulia does not have all the listings yet and even if they do, the best thing to do is to talk to a Realtor and he/she will get the specific information you desired.

The Realtors can set up email alerts for properties that match your criteria, and they can talk to you about the particulars of the property once a property hits your radar screen thru the email alert they set up for you.

I personally do manual searches and screen thru new listings and only send my clients the kind of properties they are interested in instead of just send out automatic email notices selected by a computer program.

Keep in mind that the Realtors will do that for free and with no obligation, all part of our services.

Seeing that you are in NJ, i know that Deborah below is also from NJ. . Since she said that her MLS covers 2/3 of NJ, you might want to shoot her a note and see if she covers the area you are interested in. If so, ask her if she will set the email alert up for you (You can also check on her or any other Realtors on Trulia's profile by clicking on her (or other Realtor;s) name. IT will also give you their contact information.

Hi Patricia,

I can set this up for you by street name. Our company is based in Shrewsbury, and we are members of 5 MLSs throughout NJ.

You can set up email alerts for yourself on our system by town, bedroom count and price. Street name is not a function of the systems that you can specify. I can set it up for you on our company system and you will automatically get the email alerts when a property for your designated street(s) appears.

To set up searches for yourself for town, bedroom count and price, you can do that here:

To have me set it up for street names, email me and I will be glad to do so, as long as the location is within one of our participating MLSs (about 2/3 of the populated areas of NJ).

I'm sure after the holidays Trulia will respond to your question. However, as a consumer, Truila's email alerts are worthless. Not all properties are listed in Trulia and whoever wrote the program based it on distance not other criteria that might make a big difference (i.e. zip code or school dist or arbitrary local knowledge).

So I know it MIGHT SOUND as though Don and Paul are trying to "sell" you on using a Realtor, they are just giving you the facts. I use a host of different real estate websites because they offer different features. The Realtor websites that make me tell them who I am, sometimes offer far better features. It's an extension of "you get what you pay for." You will get more, if you give more (i.e. information).

Good luck,

Patricia, Hi Happy Holidays
Log into and find a property on the road your interested in or in the same zip code and then contact the Realtor listing the property. Tell him or her your requirements and they can set up the email alerts you require for you.

Hi Patricia,

I do that for my clients via the MLS features that are available only to member Real Estate Agents..., all you need to do is to contact a local Real Estate Agent and ask them to enter your name into their data base on their/your local MLS .... its also techie known as a gui-interface. If you contact an agent that does not know how to do this, please just call one who does. Its not that hard to do. :)

Best regards,
