Why does Trulia drop the info on a house after it is sold?

Asked by Steve, Champaign, IL Fri Jul 6, 2007

While the house is for sale, Trulia provides the number of bathrooms, bedrooms, square feet, etc. After the home is sold this info seems to be dumped. All I get is price and address. Dumping good info that is in your possession does not make any sense to me. Why does Trulia drop this info when the home becomes a recently sold home?

Hi Steve,

Good question. One reason is that Trulia doesn't own the listings we show on the site. When the listing expires on the Web site where we originally found it, then we can't credit the information back to its source, and we can't direct our visitors to the originating listing Web site. That's one reason the information we display for expired listings is a subset of the information displayed when the listing is active.

I hope this helps.
