What does it mean when there's a listing that was just posted that changes to "SOLD" and the sold date was years ago?

It means that houses on Trulia, may not be up-to-date:

Sometimes, the Listing Agent is remiss in undating the information on Trulia.
They may have SOLD the house; and it still shows on Trulia.

Understand that Trulia is not intended to be the start-and-finish of the Real Estate sale:
It is an information and entertainment site.
Only your Realtor can give you the most up-to-date information.

Hi Stacey,

Niki from Trulia here. Trulia is a host site. We do not pull information from any other site. The listing data is sent to us and reflected in the site. We do require that "fresh" feed information be provided every 30 days to keep the site up to date.

We receive all records information (including sale history) from a third party, which is updated quarterly. Home facts and prior sales include information compiled from public records at local assessor, tax, and recorder offices.

Even thought the home recently sold, when the for sale listing is removed, the Public Records feed may not have updated to reflect the most recent records.

We’re excited you’re using Trulia for all of your real estate needs. Please contact us directly at customerservice@trulia.com if you have any further questions.
