Never send anyone money. It's a scam. Leases have to be signed in order to protect both parties and if they're telling you to just send money, it's not legit. Plus, without a showing of the apartment first, you have no idea what condition the unit is really in until you look inside. It might even be a private home that the owners can't afford and are just call it an apartment online to drawn others into their scam. Sam, I would suggest contacting the city or the company that drilled the well. They should be able to provide you with a report or a way to receive a report. Hi 29 palms is like any other town it all depends upon what you want in the house and of course were it is located. The average selling price for homes in 29 is about $80000.00. Also we still do USDA loans here if you qualify.

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad you've gone over this with your agent and their broker. Chances are the sellers are just angry and frustrated that their deal didn't go through and are grasping at straws. In my state when there is an issue regarding release of earnest money we have an arbitration process called interpleading. Ask your agent how things are resolved in CA and begin the process. Hopefully the seller's will realize you've done what you can and have followed the contract and will sign the paperwork without dragging this out. ... more

There is a law that if there is property worth over $300 , the property has to be stored and the owner notified, after 18 days, it has to be auctioned, and again, the owner notified. This is mainly in the Civil code for Property Management. I do not know why the bank does not have to follow the same laws. In addition, the companies that they use to clean these properties out usually post notification on the property that they have changed locks, etc. I think there is more than one oops here. This should pave the way for the banks to be helpd more accountable for who they hire to do these jobs. My dad, who was a tenant in a complex that went into foreclosure, had a garage full of tools, and caught the company pulling out his tools. It was ridiculous. ... more
