Hi Ophee0,
Yes, you can definitely list your rental property on Trulia without a real estate agent. Zillow Rental Manager provides a way to list your property. I use the new software www.hemlane.com, and it lists my property on Trulia and 40 other websites. Make sure that you are also doing a background and credit check on your applicants. I learned that the hard way.

Hey Chelsea!

Formal evictions that have gone through the court system stick on your record for 7 years. Most landlords check eviction and credit reports before letting you move in more then your actual rental history

Is your credit okay otherwise? If it wasn't a court ordered eviction you might not actually see it on the report.

I recommend grabbing a copy of your rental history from myrentalhistoryreport.com and seeing what landlords know about you.

After that, I think as other people have suggested your best bet is to be honest and work with an apartment locator company who will know where in town will work with you. Good luck!

I have the EXACT same name and email address for a property located at 8 Columbia Avenue, Park Ridge, IL - asking for the same detailed information. After providing only that information that's readily available on the internet, my wife said "this looks too good to be true". So I googled "Wendell Butler Rental Scam" which led me here. Obviously the idiot scammer isn't smart enough to use a different name and e-mail address. The phone number is however different - 910-874-8398. ... more

If someone offers to send you money via Western Union, walk away. Don't even respond to find out more information, it is a scam. That is a very common practice that scammers use. Back in 2010 I applied for a babysitting job online, and the same thing happened to me. The guy told me he would send me my first week's pay in advance and that I should send him back the rest. Well I received the check, deposited it in my bank account, my bank account went negative by an exorbitant amount and was red-lighted for fraud. I had to close my bank account and realized it was a scam. So please do not even give that person the time of day!

Also, I have begun looking more closely at the description of the houses and their contact information. If it isn't a local realtor business, I usually pass it by because then I know it's someone trying to scam. Hope that helps. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. There are some legit listings on this site, you just have to be careful.
