There are 3 train lines that run into Manhattan and several highways. There are several things to consider. If you are driving and need to end up on the west side or lower Manhattan then you want to have easy access to the Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx River Parkway or the Saw Mill Parkway to hook up with the Henry Hudson & West Side Highway. Getting to the East Side of Manhattan will take you towards the FDR Drive and you may want to be in one of the Sound Shore communities. There is also the price range to consider and what you are looking for in a home, type of neighborhood, and other things. There can be extreme differences in price in areas less then a mile apart. A great example of this would be the prices in Bronxville compared to a lovely neighborhood in Yonkers called Crestwood. Virtually no difference in commuting time, but a big difference in price. Feel free to drop me a note or give me a call with any additional questions.

Jane,

I would love to answer your question but I find it a bit broad. It all depends on what you are hoping to achieve, One thing I can say a town that is served by a train station is a good start.. Then I would want to know how far away you would like to be? Do you prefer a more city life or a country life?

We here in Rockland County are less than an hour away by public transportation. More importantly you most probably will get a bigger home with more property and less taxes in this area. Need any additional info just get in touch. Best of Luck!!

Hi, If you are considering Westchester County, there are many towns just outside. Yonkers, Mt Vernon, White Plains, Eastchester, Bronxville are all within a total of 30 mins on the train, 20 by car.

Any town near the Metro North gets you to NYC in relatively short period of time.

As a long time Westchester resident, I am familiar with many of the Westchester towns. Please contact me to discuss your real estate needs so I can suggest the best areas for you.

Look forward to hearing from you,

To better answer your question, we would need to know what type of home you would like, your budget, whether you like the mountains or beaches, etc., etc. If Long Island, Queens or Brooklyn are under consideration and you're not working with an agent, I would be pleased to assist you.
