Asked by Theresa Russell, 78741 Sat Aug 25, 2007

I am looking to leave Austin, Tx, which is beautiful., but my health is not able to withstand the year around heat. I must go out in the early mornings to stay out of the heat. I have lived in Denver before and loved the change of seasons. I would like to have that back again before I am too old to enjoy.Could you help me I am on SSI because of my health I am unable to work.

Trulia only posts properties that are for sale. The link below will provide information about renting in Denver through HUD Section 8. Good Luck.

Theresa, I have worked with Section 8 quite a bit over the past few years and here is an article that explains how section 8 works: http://www.patricia-beck.com/blog/index.php/Buying/section-8…

I'm originally from TX and Austin is great, but I don't miss the heat and love the seasons here in CO. The US Dept of Agriculture has a loan/grant program. I suggest you check into it. I've known many people on disability and social security who qualified. Might be something to consider if you'd rather own than rent:

This is the closest I can get you to the programs, but I know they help with residential. Might be something to check into or at least call and ask. The web link might be a little misleading about what they do and don't help with so I'd call because I know of 2 buyers in similar positions that went through US Dept Agriculture to buy homes and weren't farmers.

Section 8 is available....I would suggest searching on Craigs List, your local newspapers, and your local Churches.
