I live in Sausalito. Accounting for my commute and adding the San Rafael portion, I would say your morning commute is just about 30 minutes if it's all smooth. With any hiccups, you are looking at 45 minutes minimum.

In the evening, it really depends on many factors and 45 minutes would be considered a good commute.

Hi Kurt,

I have made the trip from north Marin to Presidio countless times at rush hour. Mornings flow very well and it only takes about 25 minutes from San Rafael, once you are on HWY #101. Coming home, as mentioned below, is another story. Count on 30 minutes if you leave SF by 4:00. After that, it starts to back up and can take up to an hour in extremely heavy traffic. Thursday afternoons seem to be exceptionally heavy, with the Friday of a long weekend being the worst.

Hope that helps.

It really depends on the time of day that you leave in both the morning and evening. From 6:00am-9:00am, it's probably about a 40 minute commute. If you're allowed to start work at 9:30 or 10:00, you'll be able to shave 10-15 minutes off that commute. Evenings are worse, and between 4:30pm-7:30pm, it's probably going to be 45-60 minutes in the evening. Before 4:30 or after 7:30, it will probably be about 15 minutes less. And if you don't have parking in the Presidio, you'll need to potentially factor in looking for parking as well.

Hope this helps.
