How is Los Angeles trying to implement public transportation?

Asked by Alison Hillman, San Francisco, CA Mon Jun 25, 2012

Does anyone actually use the DOTLA transit services? What have your experiences been thus far? Are there places to park near the public transportation or is getting dropped off a better way to use the services?

The key is being along the route that gets you where you want to go. Coming from SF myself, there is no comparison, but LA is making efforts to expand its system. There are some parking structures for the new Metro line, but being able to avoid driving altogether--priceless.

Thanks Marilyn. I am currently in SF too, so I agree. Nothing (NOTHING) beats Muni and Bart!

I just came across this article about public transportation near LAX, check it out:

Thanks again for your help! I appreciate it.

Hi Alison,

I'm not sure exactly what areas you travel to the most frequently, but I have had great experiences with the Metro. The new Expo line has been such a time saver for me as well as a fun way to sight see, attend events and not have to park.

"The Metro Expo Line connects the Westside by rail to Downtown LA, Hollywood, the South Bay, Long Beach, Pasadena and dozens of points in between. With 10 new stations serving USC, Expo Park, and diverse LA neighborhoods such as Culver City, the Crenshaw District and Downtown LA, the Metro Rail system will expand to 80 stations and over 87 miles of rail to destinations across LA County."
