This home is too far away! Try looking in South Beach, SOMA, Mission Bay & North Waterfront. If you prefer more classical architecture, try the north slope of Potrero Hill. Here are links to individual SF neighborhoods:

If you plan to commute daily/regularly to the closest Cal Train station on 4th Street, or the 22nd St station to park and train, I would look in a different part of town. This is especially true if you will be traveling at high traffic times, because crossing Market Street at those times can be awful.

I would look in SOMA, Yerba Buena, South Beach, Dogpatch, or Potrero Hill as you could walk to the station from those locations. The weather is also way better in that part of town, and if you decide to drive occasionally you'll be close to the freeway and on the right side of Market Street.

Potrero Hill is the most family-friendly of those neighborhoods. If you don't know the city feel free to contact for some info on those neighborhoods

I used to live only a little bit farther out Geary, and can confirm the 45 minute Muni ride to get to 4th and King. But since Caltrain always runs on time and Muni never does, you have to leave home an hour before the train you want is scheduled to leave to ensure you will make it on time.

This is an option for occasional weekend use but not at all practical for commuting.

I never tried the 22nd street station because it seems kinda sketchy, at least as seen from the train.

700 4th St. is the closest Caltrain station, but it is impossible to park near this station. Public transit from Cook St. to 700 4th St. takes roughly 45 minutes assuming MUNI isn't running late (BIG ASSUMPTION). Biking is probably the best option.

If you want to drive the 22nd street station is a better choice from a parking perspective. Cook St. to 22nd street will take 20-25 minutes by car in LIGHT traffic. is a great resource for planning public transit trips.
Google Maps will provide you with pretty accurate driving times (based upon current traffic conditions)

Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.

Good luck!

You'll probably have to take muni and/or the metro (unless you intend to bike) which will probably be approximately 45 minutes from this location to the cal train station.

Here is a link to the cal train and muni site:
