El Dorado Hills & Carmichael Commute Times

Asked by Josh Mooney, Sacramento County, CA Thu Mar 8, 2012

I recently got a job offer in sac off Power Inn Rd. I am interested in homes in El Dorado Hills and in Carmicheal near Ancil Hoffman park. What would the commute times be for a 7am-3:30pm job.
Thanks for the help, Josh

Would you consider homes in the east of elk grove. We have nice larger homes with large lots.
Traffic should be easier for you.

It’s a choice between city traffic and freeway traffic. Both areas are about 20 minutes away from your new job with no traffic, but commuting at that time will put in traffic adding 10 minutes to both commutes on a good day – and a lot more on a bad one. The biggest difference is there are three ways to get over the river (Watt Ave., Howe Ave., or the H Street Bridge) from Carmichael so you can get around accidents, etc. However, if there is a problem on Highway 50 you’re stuck.

Commute times from El Dorado Hills & Carmichael? Six of one and a half a dozen of another!
Best consideration? Do you want to live in the Sacramento Valley or the Sierra Foothills?

To answer your question, the commute time from El Dorado Hiils will be approximately 30 - 45mins depending on the traffic at that time. The commute time from Carmichael will be about the same, Again it all depends on the traffic at that time. The good news is that you avoid the peak traffice times which occurrs around 7:30am - 9am and again at 4:30pm - 6pm. If you are looking to reduce your commute time, as gas prices continue to rise, you might want to consider other areas such as River Park, East Sacramento, Glenbrook and possibly Curtis Park or Land Park. They are all very nice areas and your commute time will be reduced significantly. I hope this helps.
