I grew up in tierrasanta (in the military housing) from the age of 10 till 20. I went to school at Miller/Farb/Serra. The community was very nice and I never felt unsafe growing up. I could ride my bike unsupervised, walk to the local grocery store, walked to school, and never felt safer. I do, however, have a suggestion about the schools. I'd advise you to look at the school ratings and which school has what to offer. I felt that the extra curricular activities such as sports were not equally offered when comparing the two middle schools, Farb and De Partola. To my understanding, De Partola has much more to offer students to assist them with sports when they transfer to high school. I hope to buy a home in Tierrasanta in the next couple of months and I have elementary school aged children so it's great to know what I can expect with their education. ... more
