How to find Full Purchase amount vs just Mortgage amount?

Asked by Russ, 60613 Mon Jan 28, 2008

Hi All!

I know about the County Assessor site to lookup documents/records for a property when you have the PIN. My question is how do I find what an owner paid for the property last? I see the document type of 'Mortgage' which I expect is the amount mortgaged. But, what about what they put down? I would expect a different document would note the full purchase price to the seller. Can someone guide me to determine this amount?

Thanks!

Russ,

Visit the Cook County Recorder of Deeds at: http://www.ccrd.info/CCRD/controller. Click on the left for PIN search and enter the PIN number for the property. Look for WARRANTY DEED and click on the document number. You can find the most recent purchase price that way.

Good luck, Ken.

Thanks Ken! I'll have to try this on a few properties and get better acquainted. Sounds like between the 'Mortgage' and 'Warrenty Deed' documents, I should be able to learn what I'm looking for. Thanks again.
