Hello Jordache Jordan. A top local real estate agent in the Tampa Bay area can assist you and sort through all the information online for you. Having lived in Florida myself including in the Tampa Bay area and having helped clients in the area, I can share also that a top local agent can make a world of difference in your search for your new home. Often overlooked but also important is to research about the homeowners association including restrictions and assessments. Our licensed real estate company specializes in helping clients to connect with top agents in any market, including in Florida, and there is no charge for our service. Go to my website for more details, and please let me know for any questions. ... more

A 10% disability would give an additional $5k deduction ($100/yr savings) to your Homestead Deduction (about $700 savings because the 2nd $25k isn't counted against school taxes).

You can call the Hillsborough Country Tax Collectors office to get a direct answer.

So if you're buying or just bought a home this year and it will be your first time applying for Homestead and the 10% Military Disability then expect an $800 deduction from a non-Homestead Tax amount.

Hope this helps!

All the best,
Alma Rose Kee, PA

Why are you looking to rent when you can get sooo much more home for your dollar when you purchase. The VA home loan will cost you less to even move in than it would cost to rent a place. Most of my veterans purchase with not a dime out of their pocket. A place to rent requires first, last, and a security deposit. If you are worried about credit, i just closed a 100% financing VA loan for someone with a 560 credit score so even with less than perfect credit it is possible to purchase. ... more
