Questions like yours are very common and of course, a reasonable one. As another realtor answered already, we can't appear to steer prospective homeowners either to or away from a specific area for legal reasons.
The advice given about contacting police departments and visiting the area are very wise and sound. But you also have to decide what your personal tolerance level is. Personally, I've encountered a variety of buyers who have differing opinions on what is suitable or not. Some can't stand to have any neighbors, noise, children, etc. near them. Others are okay with the hustle and bustle of city life and all that it entails.
So after you receive the crime stats from the Sun Prairie Police, ask yourself 1)Is this level of activity acceptable; and 2) How does it compare to other properties I'm looking at.
