St. James is a quiet residential street with a missionary church at the top of the hill. It's a short street that gives quiet space in the city. No crime is on this street and it has neighbors who care and watch out for each other. ... more

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

That depends what the question asked.

If it said "Can someone help me sell 34 Franklin..."
or "I'm looking to buy 34 Franklin..."
or "What should I price 34 Franklin..."

it might have been removed. Trulia Voices is designed as a general question and answer forum, not at a place to get help selling or buying your personal (or commercial) property.

General questions like "Do open houses work..."
or "Should we upgrade our bathroom in order to sell"
or "Will Realtors show For-Sale-by-Owner listings?"

are great....

Yiwen.gao0724 I find it very interesting the different way disclosures take place in different parts of the Country. Common sense should always apply if you were the buyer would you like to know?

Keep in mind here in the Greater Los Angeles area, we have about 30+ pages of disclosures but most of those are given once there is acceptance. We even have a Natural hazard Disclosure Booklet and on the first few pages it lists in how many different natural hazards the property falls under. Keep in mind you have what is called an investigation's period and during that time you learn of many issues the property might have in addition to your own research that you discover.

Hence you can decide if you want to move forward with the purchase or not after your investigation's period end.

Hi Gemma, is a great website that offers common interest group activities. You can join meetup groups based on hobbies, activities, location and more. It was helpful for me when I first moved to Boston. There is also an organization called Boston Young Professionals, which hosts several social activities in the Boston area for young professionals; their website is:

Safe to some is dangerous to others.

Drive the neighborhood or walk it and talk to the people you see on the street or in their yard.
Ask the police you may see in the neighborhood.
Call the school department and go interview the principle and walk the school.
Just park you car and see if anyone asks what you're doing.
There are a lot of ways to get this info.

Wow .. This is question that should have a slew of answers from hidden places to fantastic places to eat. One of the things I truly enjoy when walking in Boston or Cambridge is the amount of history that is tucked away around every corner. No matter how many times the same route over and over again my eye always catches something new. If you can keep your eyes open you will notice small brass signs and other postings from one of the local historical societies. One of my personal favorites is perfect for this time of year. Take the Graveyard tour of Boston's largest cemeteries . You will be amazed at the local folklore and the historical info given during one of these tours. ... more
