Christine Ha…, Real Estate Pro in Arlington Heights, PA
Sat Dec 8, 2012
Christine Harvell answered:
Hi Linda,

Thanks to all my fellow agents for answering Linda's inquiry on my listing :) As they stated Linda, that listing did sell earlier this year. What was truly attractive about this particular listing was the yearly real estate tax rate, which was considerably lower than a good majority of other homes offered for sale at this time. It's really important, if you are going to purchase a home in the Pocono area, to choose one with a reasonable real estate tax rate! I would be happy to assist you if you would like to call me at (570) 350-1659.

This is considered a single family home so utilities would be the tenant's responsibility over & & above the rent. Do you need help finding a rental?

Meagan Lahey, Real Estate Pro in Stroudsburg, PA
Sun Jul 31, 2011
Meagan Lahey answered:
The taxes for the home on Stormy Ct. are $3,681.41. Generally, taxes vary between townships and also by the year a home was built as well as other factors.

This home could be used as either a year-round residence or a vacation home. Some people prefer vacation homes in communities that have amenities such as a lake, pool, community center, etc. and some people prefer a home located outside of a community.

If you have any other questions, please contact me on my direct line at 570-213-4091 or at Meagan@RealtyExecutives.com. I would be happy to help you!

Websites, such as Foreclosures.com or RealtyTrac (which Trulia gets their feeds from), try to get you to pay for their services. Actual addresses are not published and prices are usually far off the mark. ... more

Jane Hartin, Real Estate Pro in Tannersville, PA
Tue Oct 12, 2010
Jane Hartin answered:
Contact Mario Scavello our state rep- his office will explain why our taxes are going up- in 2006 Monroe county received 10 M back from the state - this was the last year the republicans held the majority in the house. Since then the money coming back to us has drastically been reduced as the amount going to Phila. has increased. This year we received about 3M - compare that to 10M 4 years ago-that's 7M difference that the taxpayers had to make up- Oh, and Phila received 27% of the state money this year -an increase from 15% in 2006! (Phila has about 10% of the student population of the state) John Siptroth has voted for this every time. Mario needs help- he is a lone voice in Harrisburg- he needs representatives that will vote FOR Monroe Cty not against it. Also did you know that our gambling money is shared with 6 other counties - including Luzerne and Northampton who have casinos of their own? Do we share gambling money FROM Luzerne and Northampton Cty's? The answer is NO! If you are concerned about your property taxes the answer is in the politics. Monroe County has no voice in Harrisburg. Mario is the only one fighting for us and he needs help- vote Nov 2 for a new majority (repub.) in the house! ... more

Thomas Waslowski answered:
Hello Silvia, well your story is not uncommon. Unfortunatly there is not much you can do as far as your taxes are concerned. You could ask for a reassesment but that does not go over very well with the board officials. i have never ever heard of them saying"yes your right, your taxes are too high" If you can bear to move somewhere else, then maybe sell your home and start over where the taxes aren't as high. But i do realise this home you put a lot of work into. And it is hard to just pick up and leave. Please contact me withany questions you may have. Charlie Carm…, Real Estate Pro in Brodheadsville, PA
Sat Aug 29, 2009
Charlie Carmella answered:
Hi Martinez:

The Stroudsburg area and all of Monroe County, Pa. has been one of the fastest growing areas in all of Pennsylvania for the past 7 to 10 years. With all of the growth comes a need for bigger school facilities to accommodate all of the new students. The higher taxes are where the money comes from to build the new schools. The taxes might be a bit higher then you would like to see them, but the flip side to higher taxes would be knowing that your child is in a state of the art facility with a great curriculum throughout their school years.

I hope this sheds some light.
