There are many reasons, but they could all prove wrong because you provide insufficient data.

#1. Where are you observing/obtaining the data
#2. What location
#3. Time interval
#4. What is the specs of the subject property.

Finally, have you hired a real estate professional to assist you with the home purchase? An agent can provide you the most comprehensive data.

Hi Eric, you should really check with the local Stratford police and sheriffs departments for this data. They will have the most accurate information. A realtor can't really give you a fully "legal" opinion on this issue for a variety of reasons related to real estate laws and professional liability.

If you need a referral for a really great agent in your area, please contact me through the trulia form.

The housing prices in that particular area of Stratford are lower than any other part of the town. The median income is also lower in that segment which, in concert with the pricing, is why most of its residents have gravitated there. Now if you want to know if your car is more likely to be broken into in the south or the north part of Stratford, as the other answers have told you, that's best asked of the police. Regarding the schools, I would be delighted to provide a comparison of Bunnell and Stratford High if you contact me and give me your email address. ... more

Cynthia - You already have some good info, but one that has been kind of glossed over is the Paradise Green area in the heart of Stratford, just north of the train station. Longbrook Park , on one side of Main Street, is currently undergoing extensive renovations, and is a mecca for many families from the area. Everyone enjoys feeding the ducks here and many use the pond for an exercise track. There are playing fields and play equipment, also. This area has a neighborhood shopping district, and is within minutes of all forms of transportation. I believe this area is a good value, as it is more affordable than some of the others mentioned, with nice neighborhoods sandwiched between the train station on the south end, and the country club on the north end. There are a few fun restaurants, a few donut shops and an ice cream parlor or two. All in all, a great place to live! ... more

Hello Sean,
The home closed on 9/24 for $230.00. It was a bank owned property. I hope that answers your question. Perhaps someone is giving it a make over and offering it for sale. If I can be of assistance, please call or email me at nrcollins@sbcglobal.net. Nancy Collins, Higgins Group . 203-521-6503. Have a nice day.

There are many great areas in Stratford -- it really depends on your priorities--near the train, near the beach, being part of a golf club community, having a small parcel of land or a larger one. Whatever your needs are, Stratford will certainly have a place for you.
Thanks,
Randi Hutton
