Hi Kate, this is an old question, but the status of the property has not changed and I thought you may be interested to know.
5 Sergeant Street in Stockbridge is definitely NOT a foreclosure.
There are 2 attached, large historic homes at this address, on the same parcel. Each home is independently owned, both with a legal 2-condominium status. One of the homes is rented year round and the other is rented in the summer and for 15+ years to the same family in the winter.
Each home has 5 bedrooms and 3+ baths and I expect that both may be available for sale within a year or so.
I'd be happy to inform you about Berkshire market activity and if you haven't found your dream home in the Berkshir3s just6 yet, it would be my pleasure to assist you in findning it.

Contact me at any time, It would be my pleasure hearing from you.

Hello, just to give you another perspective: Yes, there is but its very small and depending what you are looking for it may become old fast. As someone else noted Great Barrington will have much more to offer for variety of restaurants, stores etc. Also, even though Lenox is smaller, it has more high quality restaurants packed in, as well as many other perks. You should definitely just go stay at one of the towns and then visit all of them and see which you like best! They are all very close. Good luck! ... more

Here is an accurate list of the average temps for Stockbridge. Typically in mid summer the daytime temps are very warm mid 80's but the nights lend themselves to much cooler breezes and very comfortable berkshire air ! A great town and well worth the drive for a mid summer getaway !!

Risk. Plain and simple. If you get into a hardship which are you more likely to keep: the roof over your head or some property miles away.

Joann:
I do not know where the previous answers came from regarding the number of sold single family homes in Berkshire County. Per the Berkshire Multiple Listing Service, there were 341 sales since June 10, 2007.
Since there is a significant pricing difference in the county, I have separated the data by region: Northern Berkshire County closed 66, Central County closed 168 and the Southern Berkshires closed 107 homes. It should be noted that the Southern Berkshires have a very high percentage of 2nd home buyers whereas the other two regions tend to be more local buyers.
I was not able to harvest the average price but will have that figure for you if the mls will supply same.
