I live here in Stafford Springs also and that does sound awfully low. The only way to find out would be to view the property. Probably the most important thing is to not give any of your private info ( social security number , date of birth , bank account info) , or pay any fees up front. Name and phone number are ok. After you view the property , and if you are interested, seek advice from a professional that you trust that can look over any documents that you are asked to sign.... more
I live in Stafford Springs as well and have shown this house to another client. It is very pretty and I can see how it caught your eye. It has a unique floor plan with a lot of living space on the first floor. With 1.4 acres on Patten Road it is a very quiet location. It is a great price! The sellers were asking much more when I showed this house.
I agree with Cheryl and Barbara that you do need to speak with a lender and get prequalified. They will be able to explain in detail how these plans work. If you need to be refered to a lender, let me know. My first home was purchased through VA and I have also have worked with clients who have used VA and CHFA loans to purchase homes.
