2 months is not enough time and you should have been warned about this up front. 3 to 9 months is common and short of having top pros representing both you and the seller, nothing will speed up the process. If you need a home in the next 6 months, move on and don't waste time on short sales. If you have a great deal in process and love the home and are willing to take the risk that the bank can always say "no" foreclose or stall this out for a long undetermined time, stick around.

I would recommend finding a broker or service to help you locate a reputable lender that can approve your loan at a decent rate. With poor credit you will have a tough time getting a loan from any lender and to buy property, without cash, you will need a loan. Find out first if you can get a loan and for how much.
