Although landlords are not required to do so, they are exercising CYA. The requirement is to make sure that all persons who are 18 and older, have decent credit, rental and background information. This gives landlords the assurance that anyone who is of age carries liability for damages. Also, it ensures that landlords are aware of anyone who could have a heinous rental record - which could lead to a serious liability. Essentially, the landlord is trying to attract a high-quality tenant and discourage anyone from hiding something.

My favorite thing about Smyrna is that it remains a very friendly place to live and work.

I've lived in Smyrna for over 10 years now. So, I missed out on the pre-Nissan years. Still, it's been growing every year since I've been here. It really is the friendliest town I've ever lived in.

The food and shopping choices have increased. It's still centrally located - Murfreesboro and Nashville are easily accessed. The Avenue is just a couple of exits down I-24, and as long as you avoid rush hour, downtown Nashville isn't much farther away.

Traffic - it's not a huge deal at this point, except at specific bottlenecks at the worst times. Smyrna has 4-lanes both circumnavigating and bisecting the town - good for a town of this size. Rarely is traffic backed up on city streets. The interstate heading to Nashville at rush hour - that's another story.

It may be a shenanigan by someone trying to generate leads, or possibly an honest mistake (or glitch in the system). Please report any incorrect listing to Trulia, Zillow, etc. I agree that incorrectly listing a property is a waste of everyone's time. It's also a violation of the terms of service of the website. FYI, if you want the most up to date and accurate listings, you should consider using a local Realtor. ... more

Here's a great option that's 3 bed, 2.5 bath - http://www.trulia.com/rental/3199270095-614-Heath-Pl-Smyrna-TN-37167 - It also has hardwood floors and a fireplace.

Another option is a house, but has a great kitchen and is 3 bed, 2 bath - http://www.trulia.com/rental/3213147828-4022-Saint-Jules-Way-Smyrna-TN-37167#photo-1.

I would suggest checking out Trulia's rental section -- they have some great rentals! You can also view the homes on Rent.com -- they have a lot of filters so that you can find exactly what you're looking for.

Best of luck to you!

The first thing to do is to check with a loan officer to see if you are pre-qualified with your credit score. Don't just check your credit score yourself because it is different when a loan officer checks it. You can check it to make sure there are not derogatory things on your report through. If there are get them cleared up. I know someone that can help you, and if you would like more information please contact me at 615-594-0058. I wish you the best! ... more

Definitely go through a local Realtor. It is very difficult getting to the correct person in a bank regarding a foreclosure. You can usually find out through the tax records what bank owns it, but again it is a very difficult process. ... more

One of the biggest things you'll need is a good credit score. This can be built up by paying off credit cards, rent, care payments, etc. quickly. Since you haven't rented an apartment before, you may need to find a co-signer to sign your lease with you. This means that they will be responsible for making payments if you aren't able to make them. You may want to ask a family member or close friend that you trust to help with this.

Many apartment complexes require renter's insurance, which will protect your belongings in case of fire, flooding, theft, etc. I would go ahead and start looking into good deals on renter's insurance.

When looking for an apartment, keep in mind the neighborhood and area. I would definitely suggest not subleasing off of Craigslist; there are many stories of things that have gone wrong by using that method. Talk to people who live in the apartment complex to see what things are truly like.

Finally, make sure you read through every word of the lease so that you fully understand your obligations. Best of luck to you!

That's easy contact a lender that understands the lifetime value of a client. Take me, when I was in my early twenties my husband had contacted an agent about a home. My husband stated that he had been out of the military for a year and was in employed for only a year. The agent simply laughed at him and said "I don't have the time and hung up. One year later we bought our first home. She forgot to ask how much money we had saved up and why was our credut so low at that time. Things change! Long story short get with a good caring lender. I have a few on my web site.Don't give up. ... more
