Depends on what you mean by "downtown."

The River North area has tons of coffee shops, cafes and restaurants that appeal to the locals, as well as hosting the more noted tourist spots.

River North is bounded on the east by Michigan Ave, on the south and west by the Chicago River, and on the north by Oak Street
