Plan your trip around going to:

The Brooklyn Flea:

(Different locations through the weekend in Fort Greene, Dumbo and my favorite Smorgasborg on Sunday in Williamsburg)

Brooklyn Museum of Natural History:

The Best Steaks in NYC, Peter Luger's Steak House (No reservation needed for lunch)

Junior's Cheesecake (The original location) They have awesome deli food served up all day too!

Sorry, Coney Island is in bad shape from the hurricane, and is closed for the winter.
Anything else?

If it is in the warm weather I suggest the Botanical Gardens and the Zoo in Prospect Park. In additional, the Brooklyn Aquarium and Coney Island are always lots of fun (although they have a long ways to go after Hurricane Sandy).

A little different than a stroll but also good for kids... If you are into fishing you can go on a party boat off the Sheepshead Bay waterfront. Or how about horse back riding at the Jamaica Bay Riding Academy (right off the Belt Parkway near Exit 11).

In the winter or on a rainy day you may want to check out the Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Public Library.

I can go on and on because there is so much to do in Brooklyn and that is not even getting into the famous shopping strips and eatery's all over the borough.
