Actually we real estate people tell landlords they are asking to much and they want more. We tell them what the market is they want what they think the apt is worth. Same goes for their homes they all want to overprice them. Do you really think realtors want to work with owners who overprice apt's and homes were we can't rent or sell them for months? We just want to rent or sell them get paid and move on. We don't want to spend months on a rental or house and never get paid for our work.

The market only dictates the rental price when the homeowner is willing to follow the advice of a reputable agent.

Keep in mind that not all rentals are listed with brokers; the market dictates pricing not the agent....

Debbie, not every realtor agrees with a homeowners demands. We cannot force a homeowner to be realistic. Only the homeowner can do that. I think its time for you to move on. If you would like some help finding an apartment find a reputable realtor and find what is in your budget.
