I bought a home close to Oasis charter schools for several reasons. Oasis is a highly sought K-12 charter school that parents are tripping over to get their kids into. Expect a lengthy wait for your kids to get in. Be prepared for a long wait, as well, in the parent pick up / drop off area. 30 - 45 minutes each day for these folks. If parents are willing to go through this routine every day it speaks volumes about the school.
Gulf middle and elementary as well as Ida Baker high school public schools are also very close to Oasis and are also very good schools. I see long lines of cars lined up every school day for parents doing the pick up / drop off routine there.
School choice is a topic of interest, lately, here. It is very expensive to maintain a fleet of buses to cart junior around Cape Coral from far away areas. My bet is that this program gets trimmed and bus routes cut back in the future for budgetary concerns.
I would suggest that potential buyers look at schools carefully and decide if you want to risk potential bus service cutbacks and decide if you want to participate in pick ups and drop offs on a daily basis. My choice was to locate very close to Oasis so the kids could participate in after school activities and walk or ride their bikes every day. It's a real time saver for me.
