Thank you for your inquiry. In my humble opinion Napa is a great place to live and raise a family. I am gong to take off my real estate hat and share some personal experinces.
I have lived and worked in Napa since 1976. The concept I like most is the sense of community. It seems like whenever there is a need to be filled Napan's come out to help. If someone needs an organ transplant there are numerous organizations that come forward to offer assistance in the form of fund raising.
Napa is about an hour from San francisco so it far enough away to be somewhat immune from big city issues but close enough to be able to take advantage of big city attractions. I can leave home and be in my seat at a Giants in less than 90 minutes and that inculded a 20 minute walk from the commute train.
The weather is great. Not too hot in the summer, not too cool in the winter. Very seldom does it snow in the valley. Although most houses in Napa has air conditioning, you will find you need it about 10-15 days during the year. We have a great sense of natural AC.
Schools are great. I have raised two boys through the unified. Of course as a parent, you are concerned about their well being. A frequent question during high school is to you feel intimidated? In every instance they alway replied they were very comfortable at school.
Napa has a lot of community activities. Every Tuesday and Saturday is the farmers market downtown. The chef's market downtown every thursday evening. Numerous activities downtown during the summer. Last Saturday was the antique car show. Over 400 vintage automobiles on display. I had other commitments and could not attend but I understand it was very popular.
94559 is one of two zip codes for Napa. It emcompassed downtown and a good cross section of both old and new.
I hopoe this gives you some idea of Napa. If I can be of further assistance, please contact me at 707-738-5807
