There are several great options in the Charlotte area. Most of our larger (K-12 private schools are located on the south side. This would include Providence Day, Charlotte Country Day and Charlotte Latin. If you're seeking a church-based school, our Catholic churches sponsor several large ones, including Charlotte Catholic and St Mark's. Many other churches have schools as well, of all shapes and theologies! In Concord, we have the Cannon School as the main private option.

For cost, you could spend anywhere from $700 per month to $1550 per month (for a 9 month school year). Bear in mind that many of the larger schools will have a requested 'donation' to the endowment upon enrollment.

As an alternative to a private school, I suggest that you look into Gray Stone Day School, a public chrter school in Misenheimer, NC. Many of the students there went to private school when they were younger and find the GSDS environment just as supportive and stimulating.

We do have a number of private schools in the area as Leigh mentioned. Another option offered by the public school system is magnet schools. These schools include Montessori, art, international language, communication, science and math magnets. Take a look at these programs as well. As a former educator, I am a supporter of public schools. Take a look at http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/discover/wow.pdf
