Hello jlc45,

I have one son that graduated from a public school in PSL and is now attending college locally. I currently have four girls in public schools here now. We are fortunate to have them attending excellent schools and programs. For instance, my 16 year-old participates in Dual Enrollment. This is Florida's most popular scholarship program where they receive credit for both high school and college. Although she is enrolled at a public high school, she does not attend classes there. She is doing full-time college at Indian River State College and is on track to graduate from high school with an Associates Degree. FYI, with this AA degree, she is guaranteed acceptance into any of Florida's public universities.

My 15 year-old attends MOA (Marine Oceanographic Academy) at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (run by Florida Atlantic University ). My 16 year-old also attended MOA during her freshman and sophomore years before going to IRSC. Because of the demanding curriculum at MOA, she was well prepared to attend college level classes.

My two youngest daughters attend Palm Pointe Educational Research School in Tradition. This is a charter school run by FAU. We are very happy with this school as well.

The bottom line here is that depending on what courses of study your child/children want to follow, there are many excellent options available.

Please feel free to call me if I can be of further assistance.

Best regards,

Cesar Trujillo

Dear Jic,

One of my favorite sites when it comes to school ratings is http://www.greatschools.org and if you have an iPhone check out their app which is also a fantastic tool. I love their site, use it often and highly recommend it to my clients who are interested in finding the best schools for their children's education. GreatSchools profiles public, private and charter schools and has a great format for readers to leave comments. Besides their rating system the comment section is the best place to go to get real life feedback from children who attend the schools as well as their parents.

You might also want to check out the Florida Department of Education School accountability reports which are also a wealth of information and can be accessed with this link;

After doing your homework on-line I always recommend parents visit the school live and in person prior to making any purchasing decisions in that district and if you need assistance let me know as I would be happy to show you around. I hope this information is helpful but if you need anything additional please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Always at Your Service,
