What are the best Denver neighborhoods for public schools?

Asked by Kaited, Boulder, CO Sun Jan 9, 2011

Highlands sounds perfect from a lifestyle perspective, but are the schools there good? What areas are most desirable for public schools? How do these areas of Denver compare school-wise to Louisville and Boulder?

Parents think highly of the elementary schools in Congress Park, Hilltop, Crestmoor, Stapleton and Park Hill. My son went to Hill Middle School (in Hilltop) which has an excellent honors and advanced honors program. East High School and the Schools for Science and Technology are simply great schools. Though DPS allows students to "choose" into any school the most popular schools have waiting lists - to avoid being on this list it is best to live in the neighborhood which the school serves as they have to accept the student.
