The Kino Learning Center is on First Avenue, between Orange Grove and Ina Roads. This is the western area of the Catalina Foothills, on the north side of Tucson. This is a very nice area; close to town and shopping etc., but up in the foothills, with lots of views and open space. Most of the homes in the area were built on acre lots, between 1960 and 1990, but there are also some newer homes and a couple of neighborhoods with smaller lots. (I live in an older neighborhood a few blocks north of the school and there are 3 homes for sale in our subdivision.) I'll be glad to send you information on the area.

First Avenue is the dividing line between the 85704 and 85718 zip codes. You'll see the area west of the school referred to as the "Casas Adobes" area. The Casas Adobes shopping plaza is at the intersection of Oracle and Ina Roads, a little over a mile west of the school. The school is near the wash that comes down from Pima Canyon, south of Pusch Ridge (which is the west face of the Santa Catalina Mountains). There is a lot of wildlife that travels along the washes. I just walked by a hawk sitting on a fountain at eye level, watching me go by less than twenty feet from him. This is a pretty safe area, but the public safety website given in the previous response is where people should look for that information. There are resorts, parks, shops, and lots of good restaurants nearby.

My cousin went to Kino School, and a daughter of one of my clients currently attends. That is a very desirable area of Tucson. I would be happy to send you a free relocation packet with info on areas of town, things to see and do, and resources for schools, libraries, public services, etc. You can also learn more about Tucson on my website, http://www.maryediaz.com.
For safety, visit Pima County or City of Tucson Police Dept's websites. They have very good information online. Those websites are:
