Question about Charlotte - Mecklenburg School District. How may we find out about the kind of schools ?

Asked by Fred Bailey, United States Thu Nov 6, 2008

We're wanting information about the schools, their academic comparison and excellence, and the boundary-lines within which the students would come for those schools.

Good morning, Fred
If you have not found what you are looking for, you might want to read the Trulia Real Estate Blog "What are the best Schools in Charlotte?"… There is good data and info there on public, charter and private Charlotte area schools, including school district maps and school attendance zone look-ups by address for Cabarrus and surrounding counties. If you have a full time agent with a Masters degree in Planning with Finance and over two decades of experience, working for you, you will likely do better all around. I'd be pleased to provide service. If you appreciate this answer, please give it a thumbs up, or if this was the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a best answer click.

The absolute BEST resource for all schools in North Carolina is the NC School Report Card site. This is for Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and all surrounding counties.

However, be aware that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools does not base attendance at a school by neighborhoods. Please see for details on their school choice program.

Hi Fred!

As per my answer last week, the Charlotte Mecklenburg School site has a wealth of information on it--what I recommend my clients do before deciding on a neighborhood is to explore the site and visit a few of the schools which they feel are best for their needs. Then I set them up with a free search that includes the preferences that you wish to find here in Charlotte in both a neighborhood and a home.

Visit http://www.CMS.k12.NC.US and you will find grades and information about individual schools. Please let me know if I can assist you in making appointments for tours of particular schools that you wish to visit. Then we can visit the neighborhoods and the homes that you prefer.

Again, the website for CMS: http://www.CMS.K12.NC.US.

Give me a call if you'd like further information. And, thanks for your service to our Country!

Dear Fred,
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools has a great new tool for learning about and comparing the schools within the district. It's called the Data Dashboard and it's a wonderful resource for a number of different questions that you could ask about the schools. I've listed the link below for your use.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have more questions about the area or its schools at 704-814-6242.
