I'm relocating to the Covington Georgia . What area would be best to move to w/ two school aged children?

Asked by Doree, Sun Jul 29, 2007

Because the company wants to move me quickly, I need to know where I want to live temp. and enroll the children. I know very little of the area but would have some time once we get there to set up more permanent residency - key factor being, w/out changing schools -

If you are relocating to Covington, GA, you may want to live in Newton County. Living on the East side of the county has its advantages or living in town with the School System. You can go to the website for the state of Georgia and see the scores and also some other factors that you can help you make your decision.

I have a home for sale in the prestigious Lochwolde S/D I would love to sell. If you are planning on renting, you may email me and I can refer you to a local realtor or landlord agency. If you will be needing any insurance needs for auto, home, renters, etc, please feel free to give me a call or email...Jim Dolvin or jimdolvin@allstate.com

Good luck! Covington, Newton County is an awesome place to live.

Hi Doree,

Based upon your question, I presume that your new job will be located in or near Covington, is that correct? If so, you will want to research school statistics for Rockdale & Newton counties. The Atlanta Business Cronicle puts out its Education Guide each year (usually around March). I have copies of the 2007 edition as well as a limited few left for 2006 (to compare changes from one year to the next). If you are interested, send me an email with your contact information and mailing address and we'll drop them in the mail to you, free of charge or obligation. If you prefer a web-based information source, check out the web reference link below.

Our coverage area includes Rockdale and Newton counties. Please let us know how we can be of further service to you and your family.

Warm regards,

Your three main areas of focus (for great Public Schools) will be Cobb, North Fulton (S. Forsyth) and Gwinnett Counties. Gwinnett has the best school system as a whole, but the other areas mentioned have very, very good schools in particular areas.

Gwinnett will be the closest to Covington in terms of distance and the least disruptive to your work routine. Depending on where you work, though, Cobb or N. Fulton might offer better commutes.

We (all the people answering) would need to know more details about your specific situation in order to give the best advice.
