One of the best things about living in Washington Park is that many addresses are Tier 1 for the lottery to enter magnet/selective-enrollment schools. All 3 of my children attend the #1, #3, and #4 best schools in Chicago, which are centrally located near downtown, because of our preferred odds of being a Tier 1 applicant during the lottery process. Even parents living in the most expensive mansion in Lincoln Park/Gold Coast would likely prefer to have their children go to my childrens' schools. Every block in Chicago is a neighborhood in and of itself. My block is mostly single-family homes occupied by long-term residents that take great pride in maintaining their property. Stay away from blocks that have many apartment buildings/condos.
