Drive around the area. Look for cameras. If you see the cop cameras you can infer for yourself.

Hi,

You can google crime statistics and put in any town or city that you may be interested in.

OH and if you are in Naperville, I would stay there or look into places like some parts of Evanston, Oak Park, River Forest where the demographics are more like you are used to

I am not an agent so I can answer this question. The truth is yes google crime statistics and they will give you a general snapshot. Some areas of South Shore are better than others when it comes to crime, it all depends on where you are. South Shore is NOT the Near North Side where crime stats are much lower.. No place in Chi is crime free. Some places are much better than others. Driving thru the neighborhood during midafternoon, early evening and certainly at night will give you some insight. but the crime stats will help u out.

Hi,

I know that John stated that if you see cop cameras you can infer for yourself. I would not take this as any negative indication of any community. Cameras are everywhere. If you look hard enough on the highways, downtown areas, neighborhoods, schools, parks and any other area you will see cameras. There can be many reasons why there are cameras installed. To check traffic patterns, crowd controls for festivities, to deter criminal activities, watch children safely to and from school or parks, collect statistics as to where a community may need more lighting, stop signs, stores, etc.

Tery

Hi Severia, it is unethical for a Realtor to comment about crime in an area but you could search online for the crime statistics for the neighborhood, under zip code and that will give you the stats. The better thing is to also, like some of the others have said, is to drive around the neighborhood and see for yourself - nights, mornings, weekends.

Thanks for stopping by and reach out,

We as agents cant comment on this type of stuff. Only YOU know whats safe for you and your family. Go there at all times of the day and night. Go on the weekend. Drive past the schools and grocery stores. See if it fits your family needs. Then make your determination for your family. You can also check out chicago crime by block. Wish you the best!
