Hi Syd
So glad you are in Texas. Great place to live and raise a family. We are very blessed to have some great schools here in N Texas. If you have time, one of the first things you might consider is sitting down with an agent and talk to them about the services that are being offered Even though you have probably purchased homes in the past, every state can have different laws and

Syd,
Welcome, you will have no problem finding a great home for under $200,000 in this area. Flower Mound is a centrally located city that is family friendly with great schools. Plano is another great city. But my family and I chose to head a little farther north to Frisco. Frisco is a fast growing exciting place to live. Just about 15 years ago there were only 10,000 people here. Today there is over 120,000. The school district has 53 schools, with most elementary schools right in your neighborhood. It is the fastest growing city in America and operates at one of the lowest tax rates for a city this size. The school district also runs at a low tax rate. Frisco was also name the best city in the US to raise a pro athlete. We have the Rangers AA affiliate, the Frisco Rough Riders. The Mavericks D-League team "Legends". A junior league hockey team "Texas Tornado's". A state of the art Athletic Center. Not even to mention top rated Fire and Police Departments. It may be a little further than you'd like, but just drive up here and see it. If your family is like mine you'll fall in love.

No matter where you end up, you will love this area. Welcome to North Texas.

There are several good areas that will fit your needs. Find a realtor you are comfortable with and let them help you with your search.

Make sure to get a thorough home inspector to go over what ever property you choose to buy-even if you go with new construction.

I saw your question about a good community with schools. I have a breakdown of last years school test results showing how all the schools compared. I also overlay this with the tax rates, and projected growth is going to see where the best value is. I'd be happy to walk through this info with you.

The fortunate thing is there are several excellant school systems for you to choose from. My personal bias since I too relocated to North Dallas about 3 1/2 years ago and did an extensive search of the communities, is Frisco. Blessed with an "Exemplary" rating for the entire school district, most schools are outstanding academically and with "extraculars". The philosophy is largely that of "neighborhood schools" with more schools located throughout the community and an outstanding group of educators with low teacher to student ratios. The schools and the town both provide the opportunity to experience and excel in sports and the arts as well as academics. Frisco meets your criteria of accessibility to Downtown Dallas. It was recently selected as the best place to raise a young athlete by "Men's Journal" It is a vibrant, growing city of about 120,000 people and a wonderful place to live. If I can help you with further information please contact me.

Hi Syd,

Your next job is to find a good local agent to help yo with your search. Make sure they are knowledgeable about the area and that they are full time agents. Interviewing a couple agents will give you a good idea of those who have your best interests at heart.

Good luck with your home search!
