The north east side of town is the safest area. This is close to East Elementary and Highland Middle schools. Anderson has only one high school, Anderson High, is across town on Madison Ave., north of 53rdSt. Payless Market (owned by Kroger) is at the corner of Cross St and St Rd 9N (Scatterfield Rd). This is just 6 miles from 69 and close to a CVS and Anderson University. Anderson is a community that is rebuilding, with many new businesses opening every day. We would welcome you here!

If also being within an outstanding school district is important to you, that is within the same county (Madison), you may want to also look at the Frankton area. We stayed within the school district, but are currently selling our previous home: http://muncie.craigslist.org/reo/3156376276.html

I think if you stay north of 9th St and South of 53rd it's not bad. Greystone and Greystone North are newer neighborhoods with a new elementary school within walking distance. Also close to highschool. Lots of houses for sale there. Many by owner or forclosure. Those are located by the corner of 60th and Madison. Also some nicer 60ish homes on the northeast corner of madison and 60th. Easier access to interstate and shopping there too. All shopping has moved to the south end of town. The mall isn't really a mall anymore.

Not the west westside.....historic 8th st and 7th 6th and so on before madison are decent neighborhoods...east side and southside outskirts of town are good....29th and columbus area has a lot of drugs...north anderson is usually all right...

You can drive by houses and get a feel for the nieghborhood. it also depends on what your needs are. Family, kids, dogs....
