Does anyone know anything about the Madison Elementary School District in Phoenix, AZ?

Asked by Tamara Stifel, Saint Louis, MO Tue Aug 23, 2011

My husband and I are relocating to the Phoenix./Scottsdale area. We have found a few houses in the Madison Elementary School District, but don't know enough about them. Does anyone have any advice?

Here is a link to a great tool you can use to check on the AIMS test scores for any schools in the state. As I am sure you know, the AIMS test is the Arizona standardized testing program that assigns percentages to the school based on the students' test results. http://www.azed.gov/research-evaluation/aims-assessment-results/.

It is worth mentioning a few private schools within the Madison School District boundries that are popular. St. Thomas The Apostle School, St. Francis Xavier School and All Saints' Episcopal School. These school are highly respected. High School may be several years off for your family. However, you may wish to investigate the high schools in the areas you are considering as well.

Tamara,
I agree that you should go to the websites mentioned below. Both Washington and Madison school districts are rated high. It really does depend on what type of home you are looking for. If you are looking for an older well established neighborhood, it's a great area. If you are looking for a newer (1998 to present) home try another area. Hope this helped, and welcome to the valley!

Other responses are right on target about checking the two websites mentioned. Another item to consider is the type home yu desire. Those in the Madison District run the gamut in terms of style and age. Many of the older homes have been reconditioned and are great buys. The nearby Washington Elementary District also is one of the most accomplished districts in the metro Phoenix area. You may want to consider one of their nearby schools/neighborhoods. Both Madison and Washington Elementary have high performing schools. I can provide more information if you desire.

Hi Tamara,
Madison Elementary School District is one of the best in the Phoenix area. We chose to buy a home in the Madison district when we moved to Phoenix so that our son would get a great start in his education. A good place to start would be check the site at http://www.GreatSchools.org and than call each school for an interview with the principal if possible. A new school has opened in the district that has a traditional focus.

Good morning Tamara,

Glad to hear you are checking out the schools. My office and much of my work is in the area serviced by the Madison Schools. We have many clients specifically ask for homes in the Madison School district based on information they have received from other parents and read on sites like http://www.GreqatSchools.org.

The Madison School District has long been regarded as one the best in the city of Phoenix. Often people relocating to Phoenix focus in those neighborhoods within the Madison District. It has a long history as being a leader in it's curriculum and programs. It is a diverse district with Madison Camelview and Madison Park schools on the southern edge of the District boundries and Madision Simis to the north and offers a more traditional approach to education. There have been some changes in administration in recent years and practices yet it remains highly sought after. You may review their District report card at http://www.10.ade.az/gov/reportcard to compare the Madison School District's performance in the Arizona standardized tests.

I have heard great reviews, however it is important that you do your research. http://www.greatschools.org/

Some parents insist on that school district from open houses that I have held and from feedback from agents in the Central corridor.
