Hi Mom, (sorry I could not resist)
wanted to address this question that with todays technology your agent has access to views, in fact big brother really is watching as in my own office we not only know views but have access to much more information.

Aside from that you should be looking at the amount of physical showings that are coming in and if you are receiving offers..... these numbers reflect just how well the property is priced.

Hope this helps you and other members in the future!

My office works with many investors and builders in the Scarsdale 10583 area. Regarding 1031 exchanges you are not limited so there are several good options available.

I'm a former realtor & life long resident of Westchester so.. To clarify:

The following public schools are within the Scarsdale school district:
Edgewood Elementary
Fox Meadow Elwmentary
Greenacres Elementary
Heathcote Elwmentary
Quaker Ridge Elementary
Scarsdale Middle School
Scarsdale High School

The following public schools are within the Edgemont school district:
Greenville School
Steely Place School
Edgemont Jr./Sr. high School

The dividing line is along Scarsdale Ave. All streets from Scarsdale Ave. / East Parkway / Fox Meadow Lane and going east towards Mamaroneck, are within the Scarsdale school district. All streets west of Scarsdale Ave. including Garth Rd. Are within the Edgemont / Greenburgh School District. This accounts for pricing of homes. Homes within the Scarsdale school district are priced higher than homes within the Edgemont School District,
As for quality of schools, yes, Scarsdale schools are considered better and have a higher prestige than Edgemont or Greenburgh schools.
As for property taxes, Scarsdale already went thru a reassessment and many residents complained of tax increases. Mamaroneck & other towns also had a reassessment and residents taxes did increase. Greenburgh is scheduled for their reassessment as well as other communities. Most likely property taxes will increase. It's part of living in Westchester. Understand all of the town's have never had a reassessment in about 40 years or so. Residents who have lived here for years are the ones complaining but they are the ones who were not paying enough in taxes for years.

Bottom line - no matter where you live in Westchester or Nassau County, property taxes are pretty steep. It pays for the excellent quality school systems. There are some towns with much less taxes. It either the school system is inferior or it has a major commercial base. Example: White Plains has a major commercial base to supplement taxes; Yonkers has a very low quality school system.

If you can afford a million dollar home +, you need to look at Rye, Larchmont, Irvington, Tuckahoe, Eastchester, Ardsley, Harrison, north end of New Rochelle, Orienta section of Mamaroneck. All of these have top rated school districts and expensive homes. I know the property taxes are high but you get quality schools. You should also research Bedford.

Hi James,
just expand on the prior posts...I believe the area you are asking about is around crossway. One side of crossway is Heathcote and the other side is Quaker Ridge. From this area a you can walk to the Scarsdale pool. The quaker Ridge section of Scardale is the most spread out of the 5 areas in Scarsdale. You may find that the lots in QR are larger. There is also an area called the mamaroneck strip. This area uses Scarsdale Schools, and can use Scarsdale recreation, but is in the town of Mamaroneck. ... more

Yes, this is the spring market and homes are coming onto the market daily. With your mortgage preapproval or a proof of funds, please start looking at homes. Buyers are looking daily and come prepared to make offers. There is a lower inventory than in the past. As an agent who has lived in the area for 30 years, it is always a good time to buy here. Once you tell me your criteria, I will send you the available properties. I would be glad to guide you, please give me a call at 914 522-0561 or email me at ... more

It really depends on when you would be commuting. I get to work at 6am; therefore, I do not need to worry about rush hour. I have found that buses are slower than trains in rush hour, but faster during any other time of day. If you can, look up traffic cameras online for when you would be commuting.

Hi Jenna, having had all three types of these licenses I can tell you that Anne Marie had the best, most accurate answer! Regarding a Realtor, this is just a designation for a membership into a real estate group of professionals that are upheld to a higher level of service and ethics that anyone holding any of the three license types can get. This has nothing to do with which type of license you have.

I'm not sure If you already chose a company or not but I'm a relatively new agent and I struggled a bit with finding the "right" firm. For me, I really had to consider how much they would charge me per month just to be an agent with the firm but even more so, I really wanted to be somewhere that I felt comfortable asking questions (because I knew I would have so many of them). I would just ask yourself what you think it would take to make you the best agent you could possibly be (for me it was having lots of informed people around me) and find a firm that provides that foundation for you.
Good luck with your search :-)

It depends on whether you enjoy going to open houses. You might actually meet an agent you like at an open house. I do recommend connecting with an experienced local agent at the beginning of your search because they can be a great resource regarding neighborhoods, the process, and the market. Once you've identified what you're seeking and are preapproved for a loan, a connected agent can also network and prospect for listings that haven't yet hit the market to give you a greater selection of homes. I have clients who never go to a single open house and clients who love spending their extra time exploring open houses. ... more
