It's almost ALWAYS cheaper to build your own home then buy an existing one...If it wasn’t there would be no such thing as the homebuilding industry. HOWEVER if you don’t know what you are doing then your bound to run way over on costs and not get anything as you envisioned. Hire a good general contractor and an architect. The process of building a home is for professional's the municipalities (red tape) alone will make your head spin if you’re not used to it. Also if your not using a good GC (general contractor) to make sure the home is being built correctly the regular contractors are bound to take advantage of you I have seen it WAY to many times so tread carefully....I specialize in New Homes and have a lot of info about them on my blog if you need more info thanks.... ... more
