I know it's hard for folks to remember that Trulia is a web site...not law enforcement. You can report a scam to local housing officials...but Trulia is just a website company...

I believe you've received a number of interesting responses.

As you can see, opinions vary widely. Santa Cruz County varies widely in its makeup.

I do not agree with the Home seller, I’m also a realist, crime does occur in our county. It has hot pockets.

My wife feels safe on her own in most areas of the county. I would say that crime has increased as the economy has suffered, but Santa Cruz county in most areas (inside and out of Live Oak) is quite safe as an urban costal area.

Peter -this story is wild! Sounds like there was quite the scam going on here. There is also so much going on right now with vacant and abandoned properties - many homeowners have just walked away, thereby abandoning their homes, due to potential foreclosure. Homeless persons are searching for vacant homes and laying up until rousted! In the process of inspecting REO properties for the Bank, I have walked into setup situations where people have set up home - even brought in their own television, bedding, kitchen equipment, coffee pot, etc. Wild things are happening right now.
The Bank is looking at this closely and are considering they should try to keep the homeowner in the home even after foreclosure, until it sells.... these are strange times.

You can check county tax records if property has sold and new owner name. NOTE: any negative comments posted on any website about a person could be considered slander.
